On Saturday, October 3 and Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 8:15 PM to 11:30 PM, the Park will open its doors for a special event: “Wine Spot agli Scavi.” The evening features a self-guided tour of the site with artistic lighting, a wine tasting led by sommeliers, and a live acoustic jazz set organized by Drop Eventi.

As evening falls, Herculaneum takes on a new look. The *domus* light up, Vesuvius stands out against the backdrop, and the ancient city offers visitors the chance to experience it in a completely new dimension.

For two Saturdays, October 3 and 17, 2026, from 8:15 PM to 11:30 PM, the Herculaneum Archaeological Park will exceptionally open its doors for “Wine Spot at the Excavations,” an initiative that invites you to discover the site outside of normal visiting hours, amidst the evocative atmosphere of the illuminated ancient city, local wines, and live music. Public access is through the entrances of Corso Resina 187 and via dei Papiri Ercolanesi 19.

“Opening the Herculaneum excavations in the evening with a format like this represents a novelty and a further opportunity to bring the public closer to our heritage,” states Federica Colaiacomo, Director of the Herculaneum Archaeological Park. “We want to experiment with new ways of experiencing the site—approaches that go beyond the traditional visit—while always keeping the archaeological heritage at the heart of the experience. The evocative atmosphere of the illuminated *domus*, Mount Vesuvius in the background, local wines, and music will combine to create a fresh experience, linking the history of Herculaneum with the vitality and excellence of the contemporary local area.”

An opportunity to stroll among the illuminated *domus*, traverse the spaces of ancient Herculaneum, and let yourself be captivated by the city’s charm at dusk, with Mount Vesuvius serving as a natural backdrop. It is a unique way to experience an extraordinary heritage site that takes on a new and unexpected atmosphere in the light of night.

“Wine Spot agli Scavi” is a concept created by Drop Eventi (The Band Agency S.r.l.) and organized in collaboration with the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum; it brings a journey dedicated to discovering and showcasing Vesuvian and Campanian wines into the heart of the archaeological site, following the self-guided tour route designated by the Park’s management.

Throughout the evening, guests can take part in tastings led by certified professional sommeliers, discovering a selection of local wines and wineries—a journey through grape varieties and production styles that reflect a significant part of Campania’s identity.

And when archaeology meets wine, music is a must: a live acoustic set by a jazz trio will be featured, accompanying the evening with their musical selection.

A night to be savored at a leisurely pace: discovering the ancient city—its streets, *domus*, and views of Vesuvius—followed by the pleasure of pausing to taste, listen to music, and share an experience that fosters a dialogue between cultural heritage, local products, and the contemporary world.

“Wine Spot agli Scavi” was thus conceived as an invitation to view Herculaneum from a different perspective. It is not merely a place to visit, but a space to be experienced—allowing oneself to be captivated by the atmosphere of its illuminated architecture and the evocative power of an ancient city that, after sunset, reveals itself anew.
