Is dog access allowed?

Dogs are allowed at the Herculaneum Archaeological Park without breed or size restrictions. The obligation remains to keep the dog on a leash or muzzle (the latter for all breeds and cases stipulated by current regulations) and to have bags to collect any droppings. At this experimental stage, for logistical and conservation issues on the Antiquarium premises, inside the Boat Pavilion and in the domus with mosaic floors, only dogs carried in their arms or in the appropriate carrier are allowed access. C onfidence in the cooperation of our visitors to ensure an optimal visiting experience for all, actively participating in heritage protection.

Can animals be fed?

Feeding animals, introducing and abandoning animals of any kind is prohibited. Please do not approach any unattended animals in the area.

Is there luggage storage?

Yes, luggage storage is there and it is free

Is it possible to park?

The Park does not operate a parking area; the nearest parking lot is a municipal parking lot located on Via dei Papiri Ercolanesi. In the areas surrounding the excavations, there are also several municipal parking areas as well as private parking lots.

How long is the site visit?

The visit takes about 2 hours

What services does the site offer?

Information office, luggage storage (free) , smartphone app of 3D audioguides, bookshop

What should be the size of luggage allowed?

35x30x15 cm. is the maximum size of luggage that you are allowed to take with you during your visit.

Is there a refreshment station?

There is no food court within the site, but a vending machine service near the bridge entrance to the city

Italian and foreign journalists and reporters get in for free?

Yes. Italian journalist duly registered and in good standing with the payment of annual fees , as well as all categories that by regulation are entitled to free admission buy the free type ticket . Are there cumulative tickets for Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplonti?

No, you have to buy the individual ticket at individual ticket offices

Is it possible to consume food inside the archaeological area?

It is forbidden to consume food outside the specially designated places

Can professional-grade optical and audio equipment be used?

It is prohibited to bring in professional optical and audio equipment (cameras, microphones, sound mixers, etc.). To take photographs or videos for professional or commercial purposes requires formal permission from the Administration. That is, photography and video filming are authorized for private use only.

Is it possible to use drones (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System - SAPR)?

It is prohibited to use drones (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System – SAPR) without proper authorization.

Is it possible to smoke in the archaeological area?

Smoking outside the permitted spaces is strictly prohibited.
