The wood that did not burn in Herculaneum Inauguration of the permanent exhibition at the Antiquarium of the Archaeological Park 10 April 2025 at 12.00 pm. The Director General of Museums, Prof. Massimo Osanna, will speak.
After being on display for over a year at the Royal Palace of Portici, the wooden furnishings will be exhibited on a trial basis in a wing of the Antiquarium, offering visitors a further insight into the Park’s experience. As with the boat and the fugitives’ gold found on the ancient beach, these precious furnishings will immerse visitors in everyday life through materials that retain their vitality in wood that has not been burned but charred, and in some cases, preserved intact, even with its original painted decorations.
Massimo Osanna, Director General of the Museums, and Francesco Sirano, Director of the Archaeological Park, will be present at the inauguration and press presentation on Thursday, April 10, at 12:00 p.m., at the Park’s Antiquarium.
For press accreditation: ercolano.ufficiostampa@cultura.gov.it by 6:00 PM on April 9.
