There are only a few days left, and there are only a few spots left to participate in Culture Without Barriers, the special day dedicated to a new, welcoming, and engaging way to experience cultural heritage. The event will take place on Monday, February 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Ercolano Archaeological Park.

The initiative, created in collaboration with MiColorodiBlu Onlus and CoopCulture, is designed for families, schools, and children, where play, discovery, and technology become tools for connection and participation, transforming the visit into a shared, accessible, and fun experience for everyone, with particular attention to children with neurodevelopmental disorders and those on the autism spectrum.

Inclusive visits between history and discovery

The activities will take place in guided tours (maximum 25 participants per group), lasting approximately an hour and a half, with itineraries designed to ensure:

  • extended times
  • clear languages
  • welcoming environments

  • active and peaceful participation

Heritage experts and support staff will accompany groups through the streets of the ancient city, including domus, baths, public areas, tabernae, the Sacellum of the Augustales, the Palestra, and the beach, encouraging an experiential and collaborative approach.

“Adventure in Herculaneum”: the site becomes a game

At the heart of the initiative is “Adventure in Herculaneum,” an interactive digital guide developed to facilitate communication and inclusion, available on tablets provided by the Park or downloadable for free on iPad.

Through augmented reality and immersive activities, children and young people will be able to:

  • recompose ancient mosaics
  • simulate archaeological restorations
  • collect virtual coins
  • try their hand at tests and games in the Gym
  • solve puzzles and quizzes along the way

An engaging tool, also designed for visitors with autism or cognitive difficulties, that makes discovery intuitive, fun, and personalized.
