November begins with free admission to the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum
Sunday, November 1—All Saints’ Day—and Wednesday, November 4: two opportunities to visit the ancient city for free
The new month kicks off with an offer that’s hard to turn down: the Herculaneum Archaeological Park is participating in the free admission days and will welcome residents, tourists, and families without tickets starting on the first day of November, during the All Saints’ Day weekend. The event will be repeated on Wednesday, November 4.
Dates to mark on your calendar:
- Sunday, November 1, All Saints’ Day;
- Wednesday, November 4, National Unity and Armed Forces Day.
As soon as you step through the entrance, you’ll find yourself strolling through the streets, houses, and shops of a city frozen in time since the eruption of 79 A.D. Thanks to the unique preservation conditions, Herculaneum still reveals extraordinary aspects of daily life today: mosaic floors, vividly colored frescoes, and charred wooden furnishings and structures.
“We invite visitors to view these days as an opportunity to explore our heritage—whether on their own or with their families—and to discover or rediscover one of the most evocative sites in world archaeology,” says Director Federica Colaiacomo.
Hours: 8 :30a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with last admission at 3:30 p.m. Visitors must leave the archaeological site by 4:40 p.m.
We recommend arriving early to avoid waiting in line and wearing comfortable shoes.
