The Herculaneum Archaeological Park wishes happy holidays to all visitors, the local community and those in Italy and around the world who follow with interest the site’s protection, research and enhancement activities.
In a year marked by important steps forward in the preservation and knowledge of the ancient city, the Park wishes to thank all those who have contributed to the achievements: the public who choose Herculaneum as a place of discovery and beauty, .scholars, institutional partners, supporters, volunteers, and cultural workers.
Throughout the holiday season, the Park will remain open for all days except Christmas Day – Dec. 25 – and will continue to welcome visitors with its extraordinary heritage, offering visiting opportunities, cultural initiatives and moments of sharing designed for adults and children.
Open during the holiday season: the Boat Pavilion, custodian of extraordinary evidence of Herculaneum’s deep connection with the sea, with the military lance found on the ancient beach; the Antiquarium, a treasure trove of Roman daily life, with charred ancient timbers that have remained miraculously intact over the centuries; and the famous Herculaneum Ori, a symbol of the refinement and taste of the ancient inhabitants. The nearby Villa Campolieto will host the exhibition From Egg to Apples. The Civilization of Food and the Pleasures of the Table in Herculaneum organized by the Herculaneum Archaeological Park in collaboration with the Fondazione Ente Ville Vesuviane; focusing on the theme of food with a dialogue between past and present.
