On Sunday, December 7, it will be possible to visit Villa Sora, the large and scenic Roman maritime villa in the Sora district of Torre del Greco, free of charge. This is a unique opportunity to discover the extraordinary Roman-era residential complex that overlooked the sea with a frontage of about 150 meters, part of the system ofotium villas recorded even by Strabo that unfolded along the Gulf of Naples, inhabited by the richest members of the Roman ruling class.

The Vesuvian Archaeological Group, from 10.30 am to 12.45 pm, will welcome enthusiasts and curious people with a free guided tour, accompanying them to discover the still-preserved rooms of the villa.

The opening next Sunday, December 7, falls at a moment of great significance for the site: in fact, the Herculaneum Archaeological Park has begun a new archaeological excavation at Villa Sora, a significant step in the protection, research and enhancement of one of the most striking residential complexes in the Vesuvian area.

The intervention concerns the expansion and arrangement of the northern front of the covered area, with actions aimed at preserving ancient structures, improving archaeological knowledge and providing optimal conditions for future expanded use of the site.
