The Herculaneum Archaeological Park invites the public to experience the magic of the holiday season amid culture, beauty and history, choosing to spend the most anticipated time of the year between the ancient city of Vesuvius and the splendid 18th-century surroundings of Villa Campolieto. A special opportunity to devote yourself to “caresses of culture” and to give – or treat yourself to – art thanks to Annual Subscription Cards, valid for 365 days.

December is the last month – excluding Dec. 13, 24, 25 and 31 – to visit the exhibition From egg to apples. The civilization of food and the pleasures of the table in Herculaneum organized by the Herculaneum Archaeological Park in collaboration with the Fondazione Ente Ville Vesuviane, hosted in the elegant frescoed rooms of Villa Campolieto, among the most fascinating Bourbon residences of the Golden Mile.
The exhibition route creates a dialogue between past and present through the theme of food, understood as a red thread linking eras, cultures and lifestyles.
The evocative rooms of the villa house artifacts from the Park, juxtaposed with contemporary images and narratives: from care in food preparation to attention to taste, to knowledge of the eating habits of ancient
Herculaneum residents.
The exhibition adopts a respectful layout of the historic home, with the “room within a room,” which allows both the exhibits and the 18th-century architecture to be enhanced.
