The Suburban Baths, a Roman bath complex buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, were found following the 20th century archaeological excavation campaign of ancient Herculaneum. Built at the beginning of the first century A.D. at the behest of Marcus Nonius Balbus as a gift to the city, of their kind they are one of the best-preserved thermal buildings in the world.
After the first delicate phase of safety and restoration work preparatory to the future permanent reopening, the first fascinating rooms that are the objects of intervention reopen on the occasion of the Visit to the Suburban Baths of Herculaneum project.
