OPENING EVENING

Thursday, July 2, 2026

8:00 PM – 10:30 PM

Herculaneum Archaeological Park – Corso Resina 187 and Via dei Papiri Ercolanesi 19 – Ercolano (NA)

The Herculaneum Archaeological Park kicks off the summer season with the ninth edition of “I Venerdì di Ercolano” (Fridays in Herculaneum), a series of evening events that will transform the archaeological site into an exceptional stage. The underlying theme of the 2026 edition, “Love and War,” explores the connection between eros and polemos through seven artistic performances. Among the Roman ruins, illuminated for the occasion, audiences will enjoy a unique experience that intertwines live performances—theater, dance, and music—with the evocative atmosphere of one of the world’s most extraordinary UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The evening of July 2nd is reserved for press representatives, Park staff, and institutional authorities. It will be held in a single session, from 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM, in the heart of the archaeological site.

With “Fridays in Herculaneum,” the Park renews its commitment to making its archaeological heritage a living space, open to dialogue with the languages of the present. This year’s theme, “Love and War,” invites us to reflect on the complexity of the human experience through the evocative power of art.

Federica Colaiacomo, Director of the Herculaneum Archaeological Park

THE SEASON

Every Friday evening, starting July 3rd and continuing throughout the summer, the Ercolano Park will host events featuring a wide variety of artistic forms: theater, dance, live music, and artistic lighting of the monuments. This project restores the site to the city and its visitors in a new dimension, where the beauty of the ancient world dialogues with contemporary creativity, enhancing the archaeological area through light and artistic narration.
