Visits to the excavation and restoration sites to discover firsthand the work of protecting and enhancing the site.
The Herculaneum Archaeological Park renews its invitation to the public to participate in the upcoming Close-up Cantieri events, the project that opens the excavation, restoration, and maintenance areas to the public, offering a firsthand and privileged glimpse into the daily work dedicated to the conservation of the archaeological heritage.
Now in its eighth consecutive year and launched in February, the initiative allows visitors to go “behind the scenes” of the construction sites and gain a firsthand understanding of the techniques, methodologies, and professionalism involved in protecting the site. It’s a unique opportunity to observe firsthand the interventions, tools, and processes that ensure the preservation and enhancement of the ancient city.
Next appointment: March 26th
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, March 26th and will offer participants the opportunity to visit the ongoing construction sites accompanied by industry professionals, who will illustrate the excavation, restoration, and maintenance activities and the conservation strategies adopted at the site.

Visiting times
Two shifts lasting 1 hour:
- 10:00 – 11:00 (in Italian)
- 11:30 – 12:30 (in English)
It is possible to participate in only one shift per day.

The activity is free, upon purchase of a standard entrance ticket to the site (reductions and free admission are also valid according to the regulations).
